Detail: Sasikala was born in a Tamil family from Thiruthuraipoondi who later moved to Mannargudi. Her marriage to M. Natarajan was presided over by DMK leader M. Karunanidhi. Her husband, was a public relations officer in the Government of Tamil Nadu.
